FRED supports numerous coating types:

User-defined table of transmission and reflection coefficients (amplitude and phase) as a function of wavelength
User-defined table of S-state and P-state reflection and transmission coefficients (amplitude and phase) as a function of wavelength and angle of incidence
Quarter-wave coating
Thin film layer prescription (supports groups of layers
Jones matrix (idealized) polarization/waveplate model
Reflection vs. angle of incidence plot showing both polarization states and average Polarization coating created from sampled data
Quarter-wave and general thin film layer prescriptions may be composed of dispersive dielectric and/or absorbing materials. Materials may be specified from glass vendor catalogs, from tabulated input of refractive indices (real and/or imaginary parts), or from a user-defined dispersion equation.
