Problem with ASAP Import?

Postby Fred Fresh » Fri May 19, 2006 12:06 pm

I have a simple system with a lightpipe defined in asap. The import dialog lists asap files (text and output) as possible input options, yet when I try to import this file the resulting system is empty. Importation status says there were no errors found.

So - what am I missing? I assume that the asap import routine does not accept everything asap can do, but where can I find out what can/cannot be imported?

Thanks,

To create an output file from ASAP you need to use the ASAP Print statement to write out the ASAP commands that you have used. This creates an output that can then be read by FRED using the FRED import facility. FRED only reads the Print output format, not the default ASAP INR format.

I too have a similar issue with ASAP import. I have an OUT file generated using ASAP's print function and have confirmed that all of the surfaces exist in the OUT file.

When importing into FRED, there are no errors - but I do get statements like, "Multiple surface not supported on entity ##".

Any ideas / suggestions for importing directly from ASAP? Importing directly from the INR file would be nice!
